This is a very basic but very useful tablet by a major computer maker Lenovo (Formerly IBM Thinkpad)
lets talk the positives: 1). Price 89$ at this writing. 2). Up-to-date Jellybean operating system 3). Sound and Speakers are Excellent for a Tablet 4). 8MB with the ability to add up to 32GB more with a MicroSD card 5). Bluetooth you have to spend alot more to get bluetooth on a tablet than this (this was the main selling point for me as i have all my music on a 16GB microSD and with a Bluetooth rechargable speaker you have a jukebox on the go)
Lenovo has addressed two of the major problems with this tablet
1) internal memory has been expanded, you need to use the first system upgrade 2) netflix wont run, you need to use the second system upgrade and clear the app data in netflix.
Other downsides: 3). Crappy camera .3 MP ( i never use tablet camera anyway) 4). Screen resolution is not HD but at this size do you need it unless your a gamer(no i am not a gamer), Netflix played clear and was very useable.I have not seen a Tablet that works well in the sun and this one does not work well in the sun either.
for me its perfect tablet now that Lenovo has fixed the internal memory issue and netflix issue.
This is not a tablet for upgrade freaks and geeks who have to have the most up to date and most powerful specs. Most of us don't really need that.
I've waited a while before I wrote this review, I wanted it to be honest & fully experienced. To address the minor downfalls it really should not change your decision to purchase this tablet but want you to be aware of them. The charger cord it comes with is awful, awful.......awful.We have all Samsung devices in our home that use the micro usb cord for charging which is a direct fit for this tablet so we had no problem with charging. The cord that comes with this tablet is just a poor design & after 4 months we no longer use them, actually they are in the trash because they don't work. They didn't work well from the beginning, just poor design in the plug end.Any issues & I suggest you just go to the store & get a new charger for just $8 & you will be happy. The second is the storage that the tablet comes with. After my wife got hers she downloaded the typical Android apps that most have like Evernote, Gmail, Facebook & a few other essentials & after that she was getting low space warnings.I would consider this tablet useless unless you immediately buy a 16 mb micro sd card.Thats exactly what we did, after we found that out I went right to the store & bought a 16 mb card, problem solved. This tablet still gets 5 stars, it's awesome.Android means you can get all the best apps.We have high speed wireless internet in our house & this tablet is faster than our old desktop computer.I could go on & on with this but just to sum it up, its awesome. The Android play store with all things Google make this tablet a great item for all ages. One thing I should add is the very first thing you need to do is an update. We downloaded apps that were not working, most notably Netflix. So there are options in the tablet that let you do a software update. It needs to be connected to wireless to do & takes about 15 minutes, really. After all the updates it did on the tablet all apps became fully functional.

I was a bit hesitant to buy this tablet. Many of the reviews were sour, and the professional reviews (cnet) were less than glowing.
I have to admit that I'm very pleased with it.It's inexpensive and exactly what I was looking for.We have 2 ipads, half a dozen pcs - old and new, a kindle, a roku, and a Samsung Galaxy Mini 4 at home.I mention this to give you a sense of the environment this tablet is part of.I do not need it to do everything.
What's really nice about it is that as an Android machine, it keeps me connected with the Google environment.I can take quick notes, pull up a google docs document, check gmail, read the news, see the temperature, etc at a glance without having to hop on to a machine or switch tabs on my browser. And anything I do flows seamlessly to all of the other computers that are logged into my Chrome account.I sorry if I sound like a Chrome commercial - but its so awesome to effortlessly take down some notes onthe tablet and to be able to pull it up anywhere else. All of my bookmarks and preferences are shared.
At first glance - I just got a few days ago - it's a nice looking machine.I did not have complaints about the screen quality. And the tablet produces a pleasing vibration every time I do something on it to give me some feedback.
Three things to be aware of: 1. This unit does not seem to have GPS.2. Pages in Chrome browser were jittery when scrolling downwards. This was solved by using the Dolphin Browser.Looks great now.3. There is only one camera - selfie style.I suppose you could point it outwards and look afterward to see if the picture pleases you.If you want this to take pictures, probably not the tablet for you.
I'll write in later if I encounter any service issues or gripes.
Sometimes I think people review items based on the merits of the item against the highest caliber of it's competition. The reality is Lenovo A1000 couldn't compete with the fastest and latest tablets out there, BUT (and it's a big butt), for this tablets price point it has INCREDIBLE functionality. I might sound like an old man (I not even that old!), but could you imagine getting the specs this thing has for under $100 even 2 or 3 short years ago? My review is based on this units functionality at it's price point. For the price of this thing, you get a hell of a lot of bang for your buck.
The tablet has functional screen with decent resolution and viewability, smooth gameplay (for most all of the "casual" variety games), and a decent enough memory capacity at 8GB. 4GB is application allotted, with 4GB for system memory (and all the previous updates people talk about for memory issues were already applied to my unit before it arrived). Frankly, this is a steal (at under $100). I highly recommend this unit.
